Blots; The Orgy Was Cancelled

If you are in the Nashville area from Oct. 8-10, please look for your free copy of Blots at the Southern Festival of Books. Yours truly has a piece in the newest issue, 10.1, hot off the presses. Blots is a local zine with national flava, and I'm bringing it from Detroit. Okay, not so much the funky flava, more just a bit of weirdness. Find it! Get it! Take a picture of yourself holding it! Which is what I will do when my copy arrives in the next couple of weeks.

Did I mention that Blots is little sister to Ink Monkey? Yeeeaaahhhh... Cool, huh?

Now I answering your burning questions: First, how did the orgy go?

THERE WAS NO ORGY. &#@$!%^

In fact, B and I even thought the tits on display lacked their usual fanfare. Last year, they hit an all-time high, with corsets cinching in waists and boosting breasts to over-spillage everywhere. This year, not so much. We also noticed that there were very few Steampunk costumes. Rude language? Hardly. This was, we feel, a family-friendly Ren Fest. Sure, one guy hawking his handmade wooden mugs did call out to a passing woman drinking beer out of a plastic cup, "My wood will get you drunk faster, lady!" But aside from being slightly confusing, it was just amusing. I wouldn't care if my kid heard that. And now, pics!

Becky and Brian go to the fair! Check out my chic shades! $5 at the mall!

The main boulevard. Like the flags.

It had rained earlier that morning, and everywhere was mud, mud, mud.

Live chess. Pieces fought each other. Pirate vs. Prince. Pirate lost!

Gratuitous pics of Gryff sleeping, above and below. *g*

If you'd like to check out pics of the site of a former Ren Faire, now abandoned, you can see it here. It's funny, because this just posted to Abandoned Places, and while at the Fest, I was wondering what it looked like during the rest of the year. I'd love to wander when no one else was around. And is it strange that I was looking at the pics of the abandoned faire grounds and analyzing it for its zombie-defense capabilities? (it rated very low, unfortunately)

Next post, birthday pics. ;)

  1. Don't we have a great ren fest in Michigan?

Gryff looks very content in his sleep. I wonder what he's dreaming about? Catching mice and tormenting big dogs perhaps?

  2. Awww... I love sleepy kitty eyes. *pets Gryff*

Those abandoned Ren Fest pics are ... I'd still go there! Looks cool to me! :D

I miss a good Ren Fest. So glad you went!! No orgies, though, huh? Hmmm... That's too bad. Was there a maze? That's usually where they happen. (I was in the cast of the TN Ren Fest back when I was 16. My first kiss happened in the maze. He was 24... and wore a kilt.) **GRIN**

  3. L: It's pretty good, but now I've been looking at pics of other Ren Fests, and I think ours could be bigger and better. (I always think that)

Sara: I'd still go there too. I'd love to spend an afternoon poking around.

I think there was a maze, but it was a little one for little kids.

"He was 24... and wore a kilt." OH BABY SIGN ME UP.

Oh, wait, can't go back in time...

  4. Blots sounds awesome! I´m sorry I won´t be in Nashville in October...

A non-existing orgy is a sad thing indeed! I´ve never been to a Ren Fest, but I love the abandoned pics. Have you googled "abandoned japanese amusement parks"? That´s impressive stuff, they exaggerated nothing in "Spirited Away".

Lovely to see you, you have first-class bangs =)

  5. Asuqi: I'm sorry I won't be at Asuqi's house in October.

I'm going to google that later. Been a busy day. But honestly, I had no idea there were even such places! Can't wait to see them.

My bangs are first-class... something, LOL!

Mimi: I wore a push-up bra that day. In fact, I purposely didn't add the pic of me standing with a Knight because I'm like, Dude! You can totally tell that's a push-up bra! LOL!

Gravity is, indeed, Sir Rat Bastard.

  6. We don't have Renaissance Faires in England, as far as I'm aware. I think it's because we've already got so much old stuff knocking around in this country that we don't bother recreating it much.

Nice pic of you and Brian!

  7. I'm sure that's why you haven't got them. Over here, it's a novelty. Well, you know, when your oldest buildings are two hundred years old...

I think B looks great in that pic. I love him. I think I will keep him.

  8. I love seeing you guys!!!
And I would love to have seen the push up bra effect! heheheh...

I love the abandonded buildings--I love that kind of stuff. On the drive towards Vegas from Cali, there is an old water park... looks so creepy!!
